I&CLC2000 (IMAGE2000 and CLC2000) project is a joint project between the European Environment Agency (EEA) and the Joint Research Centre (JRC) for the updating of the European Land Cover database (CORINE Land Cover).
The aim of I&CLC2000 Project is to update the European Land Cover database (CORINE Land Cover) as a snap shot of Europe for the year 2000 (CLC2000), using the necessary satellite coverage to create the multi-purpose spatial reference of Europe (IMAGE2000).
I&CLC2000 is co-managed by the EEA and the JRC:
JRC is responsible for the link with the European Commission Services and the management of IMAGE2000
EEA is responsible for the link with participating countries and and the management of CLC2000
It is a three-year project, co-funded by the European Commission and participating countries on an equal basis. Initiated in 2000 for the then 15 Member States, the project was extended in 2001 to accession countries. The project currently covers 29 countries including the 10 new Member States.
The dissemination and use of the I&CLC2000 Products are defined in an agreement between the EEA, the European Commission and the participating countries.
